Community Interpretation + Translation Program
Tecolotl's Community Interpretation + Translation Program (COMMIT) provides quality language services and capacity-building opportunities to our clients and expands knowledge, skills, leadership, and economic opportunities for our community-based language workers. COMMIT has two interconnected parts: Language Services and Language Justice Network.
Language Services
Tecolotl provides professional interpretation and translation services grounded in language justice, sustainable livelihoods, and deep community knowledge. Our services are delivered by highly skilled, culturally connected community interpreters and translators supported through ongoing training, coordination, and care.
We partner with community-based organizations, public agencies, educational and arts institutions, and planning and design teams to support public meetings, workshops, outreach, and long-term engagement and planning processes. Our relational, process-driven approach prioritizes thoughtful planning, strong coordination, and consistent interpreter and client support—ensuring multilingual spaces are accessible, effective, and sustainable for you and your audience.
Interpretation

Simultaneous and consecutive interpreting for spaces ranging from small online community meetings to large in-person conferences.
Translation
(Written Language)
Text translations ranging from event flyers and presentations to websites and reports. (Editing and review-only available for existing translations.)
Consulting
(Language Justice)
Consulting with organizations seeking to create multilingual spaces and integrate language justice principles into their work.
Language Justice Network
Tecolotl’s Language Justice Network is a community of language workers—translators, interpreters, and language justice facilitators and organizers—working in 8+ languages (and counting). Grounded in language justice principles, Network members collaborate with Tecolotl on multilingual capacity-building, trainings and workshops, and community-led planning and engagement.
Members are connected to paid opportunities and supported through ongoing training, skill-building, and accompaniment. Our Network plays a critical role in advancing Tecolotl’s work with partners ranging from community-based organizations, public agencies, educational and arts institutions, to planning and design teams.
